Pre-Professional Trainee Program
Coastal Ballet of Florida’s Trainee Program provides young aspiring dancers from across Tampa Bay with the opportunity to refine their skills through intensive training and immerse themselves in the art of classical ballet!
Why choose Coastal Ballet of Florida's Trainee Program?
Our Trainees receive high-quality instruction designed to develop both their technical and artistic skills. The curriculum includes foundational ballet technique, pointe work, variations, Progressing Ballet Technique, as well as masterclasses in Pas de Deux, contemporary movement.
Trainees benefit from personalized guidance and support from Coastal Ballet’s professional dancers and artistic staff, fostering both growth and individual attention. We are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment that empowers intermediate to advanced students to reach their full potential.
Throughout the season, Trainees have multiple performance opportunities alongside the professional company in major productions. These experiences allow them to grow as artists, refine their stage presence, and prepare for future careers in professional ballet companies or collegiate dance programs. In addition, Trainees can participate in masterclasses, ballet competitions, outreach performances, and other special events, further enriching their education and broadening their understanding of the art form.
What Sets Coastal Ballet of Florida’s Training Program Apart?
Coastal Ballet’s training program is unique in its inclusivity, welcoming intermediate to advanced dancers from various studios across the Tampa Bay community who are seeking additional, high-level training. To be eligible for our Trainee Program, dancers are required to take a minimum of two 1.5-hour ballet technique classes and two pointe classes weekly to maintain a strong technical foundation, in addition to our program.
While we encourage Trainees to attend our affiliated school, dancers are not required to do so in order to participate in the program. We are equally committed to supporting talented dancers from other schools by providing them with access to exceptional training and performance opportunities. This inclusive approach fosters collaboration, artistic growth, and a sense of community, preparing dancers for the next step in their journey.
How do I become a Trainee?
Trainees must be at least 13 years old by the fall and have a solid technical foundation in ballet and pointe work. Dancers who meet these criteria and are interested in auditioning to become a Coastal Ballet Trainee can contact us via email to schedule an audition or attend one of our upcoming open auditions, which will be announced soon!
